Image
Reap Genre: Paranormal, Young Adult Author: Christina Channelle Publication Date: 10/11/13   Summary from Goodreads: Foreign, or rather unfamiliar, would be the word I would use to describe how I felt. Faintly, I could hear the glimmer of voices surrounding me in this dark haze, caressing my ears like skin against silk. I felt like I was in a cocoon of sorts, protectively enveloped, quietly drifting in some far-off place. I wanted to stay that way forever. But we all know that what you want never really seems to happen in the real world. Something’s not right in Mia’s head. The first thing is that her name isn’t Mia. In fact, she has no clue what her name is—who she is. All that she knows is that she’s not like the ones who found her: Dante with his kind blue eyes, Amy with her child-like demeanor, James with his questioning gaze.  And Briggs. The one she cannot decipher no matter how hard she tries. As Mia tries to fi...

From Page To Screen (58) Battle Royale

Image
For this weeks From Page To Screen I have decided to cover the book turned film Battle Royale by Koushon Takami. First let's discuss the book. Battle Royale is a novel written by Author Koushon Takami. The book was originally released in April of 1999 by Ohta Shuppan. Battle Royale released to critical acclaim in Japan and quickly flew up the best seller list in Japan that year. In 2003 Viz Media translated the book to English for the first time. An expanded edition with a revised English translation and an afterword by Takami was published on November 17, 2009 by Haikasoru, a division of Viz Media. In 2008 Battle Royale was at the center of controversy when Author Suzanne Collins released The Hunger Games which is strikingly similar to Battle Royale in plot and premise. Suzanne Collins maintained she had never heard of the book until hers was turned in. At the time Takami released a statement saying he appreciated fans "standing up" for his book, but stated tha...
