Waiting On Wednesday (76) After the End by Amy Plum

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly blog post hosted by Breaking The Spine.
For this weeks Waiting On Wednesday I chose After the End by Amy Plum.

Expected Publication:
May 6, 2014 by Harper Children's

"She’s searching for answers to her past. They’re hunting her to save their future."

World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness. They've survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.

At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.

When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie.

Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she's trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.

Why Am I Waiting?
As long as this book isn't like M. Night Shamalamadingdong's The Village I think I'll enjoy this one. I'm a fan of books where people are thrust into worlds unlike those they've known especially when those take a person from Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian to Modern thriving metropolis. I've only seen this done a few times and in each it has worked for me so fingers crossed for After the End. On a completely superficial note I am so in LOVE with this cover. It is simple but perfect and vastly different from the usual Amy Plum covers.

    1. Die for Me is really good. I'm not a huge romance person but I liked it. I'm hoping this series is just as good if not better.

  7. I love this cover too! It doesn't look like your typical YA cover, so I think it stands out. I also love books like these where people are thrust into new unfamiliar worlds. This one is one of the more original post-apocalyptic reads I've come across in a while!

    1. I agree. It is nice seeing the "girl" on the cover blend into the background rather than be front and center.
