Book To Movie Monday (3)

Image
For this weeks Book to Movie Monday I have decided to cover the movie Twilight IMDB . I am someone who was dead set against having anything to do with the Twilight series sparkling vampires and all that jazz. Plus I admit I really do not enjoy K.Stewart on screen. But eventually I was coerced into at least trying out the first movie. So back in late 2010 I watched it for the first time. Knowing that the movie was obviously based on the book I decided to then read it as well. Thus my love/hate relationship with The Twilight Saga was born. First let's discuss the Book. Below is the Cover: Now for a little backstory in case some of you aren't familiar with the Novel. Twilight is written by the Author Stephenie Meyer and was published back in 2005. Stephenie had at least 14 rejections for her series before being picked up by Little,Brown and Company. Stephenie Meyer has stated that the idea of Twilight came to her in a dream back in June,2003. From that moment on she couldn&#

Weekly Wrap Up (4)

Since I had a very long day I'm going to keep this weeks Wrap Up fairly short. I was pleased as punch to find a few books at the store I've been wanting but disappointed that I still haven't found a couple others. Oh I could just buy them online but whats the fun in that. Zurvival Saturday (3)

Image
For this Weeks Zurvival Saturday I want to talk about Bug Out Bags. The purpose of a Bug Out Bag is to provide the tools and supplies needed to deal with a disaster, in this case The Zombie Apocalypse. A Bug Out Bag is basically an expansion of your everyday survival kit. Bug Out Bags are typically used to help you survive the first 72 hours after an attack or natural disaster. This is the time when things will be most chaotic. Wouldn't it be nice knowing you had taken precautionary steps beforehand and could focus on the days ahead rather then your immediate survival due to lack of food, warmth and water? Why can't I stay in my home and just keep it stocked? While you should keep your home stocked for any circumstance sometimes staying just isn't safe or possible. In the following days after catastrophe strikes Fires, Looting and gangs of marauders become a threat as Emergency services are pushed to the limits or in the worst case scenario fall to the undead hordes

Sun-dwellers are foul monsters that eat a human’s flesh from their bones…or so sixteen-year-old Lyra has always been taught. The only sure survival for his people is to lock themselves into their repositories each night. Both labeled as undesirable by their respective kinds, a fated meeting in the forbidden forest offers Lyra and Perseus an unexpected chance at happiness. If they can overcome their own prej

This silent-treatment bit you've got going on is getting really old. I glance through the windshield at the stories of pure creepiness as Papa Dan ends the oat-and-ivy tunes and starts whistling The Twilight Zone's theme music. A flock of birds takes flight inside my chest as I peek inside the house. "I don't think I've used a chain saw in any of my books yet. I like to dream up my own unique methods of dismemberment." I'm heading for the closet when I hear a loud thump at the window and turn to look. Mom stares at me likes she's shocked that a demon has p

That being said this is my review. This is the first in a planned trilogy of Dark Mother books. The Book Starts with the gruesome (albeit justifiable) murder of a local street gang. Book to Movie Monday (2)

Image
For this Weeks Book to Movie Monday were comparing The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I actually saw the movie first (Norwegian version 2009) and remember just being completely absorbed by everything on screen. After reading comments about it on IMDB I decided to search out the book. The Movie alone was great but the book was outstanding! Please note: This Book is definitely for those 18+ So read on with caution. First let's discuss the Book. Below is the Cover Now for a little backstory in case some of you aren't familiar with the Novel. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is by the late Author and Journalist Stieg Larrson. It was originally published in Swedish under the title Män som hatar kvinnor translation Men Who Hate Women. Stieg Larrson died in 2004 and never saw his Book become the bestseller it is now known as today. It's been reported that He wrote the book after being traumatized watching his "friends" gang rape a girl when he was 14-15 years old.

Cover Reveal Inbetween by Tara Fuller

INBETWEEN (Kissed by Death, #1) by Tara Fuller (Expected Release August 7, 2012) Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky—and unending—lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option. It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn't let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left…his soul. Chapter 1 Sneak Peek Finn Sometimes Emma made me feel so alive, I almos

Zurvival Saturday (2)

Image
It's time again for another Zurvival Saturday. This week it's all about Pride Prejudice and Zombies and it's Prequel Dawn of the Dreadfuls (which I have yet to read but wanted to mention). I first heard of Pride Prejudice and Zombies when walking through a Barnes and Noble near Halloween 2009. I at first couldn't believe someone had thought to mash these two very different genres together. But curiosity prevailed so onto my pile it went. When I brought it home my husband was the first to snatch it up. I pouted but was happy he wanted to read something I was interested in. The book became a bathroom reader and slowly but surely both of us got through it. Since many books from that period are quite wordy even with the awesome add of Zombies it took me roughly 2 1/2 weeks to finish and him 3. In the end we both liked it and thought the idea worked. The Author Seth Grahame-Smith seemed to have no trouble blending a world of Zombies into the Aristocratic Victorian setti

It's time for another edition of Freebie Friday! All you have to do is click on the title and it will take you to the purchase page. This weeks Freebie Friday is all about Vampires. Before long, however, the Vamplayer sets his sights on Lily's friends, and she is left to face the threat alone while protecting her friends from the dark forces she has sworn to resist. Sex, lies and experiments - Sometimes blood is not enough. After four years as an u

Ten Sentence Thursday

Image
I have finally decided on a Weekly Thursday Meme for my Blog. I've come up with Ten Sentence Thursday. Each week I'll grab a random book I own, open it up and pick 10 random sentences from it to share. For my first Ever Ten Sentence Thursday I am picking.... Here are my Ten Sentences: I tried to open the door to Stefa's wardrobe, my fingers eased into the dark wood as though into dense cold clay. Formality seemed a little absurd after all that we Jews had suffered. I'll never forget her look of spiteful hate; the transformation seemed worthy of a devil in a painting by Bruegel. I'd never heard bone breaking before, but the crack was unmistakable. He seemed a good man, but I didn't trust him; he was a christian, after all- with a wholly different destiny from ours, whether he wanted it or not. Water dripping from the ceiling stepped its fingertips across my neck as I edged forward. I drank gratefully. They had sympathetic eyes and the sam
