Booking Through Thursday (43) Mark-Downs
Booking Through Thursday is a weekly bookish meme where participants are asked a series of questions about their reading habits. To join this or future Booking Through Thursdays Click Here.
Price definitely affects how I purchase books. I wish I could say I could afford to buy every book I want at list price but due to the sheer number of books I read and want that simply isn't the case.
It may seem stingy but I have a pricing scale of how I buy books. If I 5 Starred it as a review book, love the Author or in the case of series loved the other books in it, I'll usually pay the release day/pre-order price whatever it might be because A. I know it's a quality read. and B. I don't mind paying for something I know I'll love and will read again and again. These books will probably be bought in paper or hardback so I can have them on my shelf forever. The only time this doesn't apply is if I like the Kindle Covers better or it is of course digital only.
On the other hand, anything below 5 Stars, books from an Author new to me, or books I'll want the Audio version of as well and the book goes on my Kindle wishlist which I have conveniently linked to a site called E Reader IQ. Basically, I can set the price I'll pay for each book and it'll alert me when it drops down to it. Most books are set within the $1.99-$5.00 range (30-50% off). A couple are set at .99 because their base price is lower but the above price range is the majority. Sure I could buy only Free books and have enough to read from here to eternity but I want to save money not be a complete cheap skate lol.
So that's about it. With the exception of sales, bargain bins or those bought with Giftcards the above is pretty much how I buy books.
This Week BTT Asks: Does the price of a book affect your decision about buying it? Do you wait for cheaper editions of books you want? |

Now for my questions:
Do you buy books at list price?
Do you wait for sales?
If neither, How do you buy books?
Is it spontaneous or do you have a system like me?
