Love or life.
Henry or their child.
The end of her family or the end of the world.
Kate must choose.

During nine months of captivity, Kate Winters has survived a jealous goddess, a vengeful Titan and a pregnancy she never asked for. Now the Queen of the Gods wants her unborn child, and Kate can't stop her--until Cronus offers a deal.

In exchange for her loyalty and devotion, the King of the Titans will spare humanity and let Kate keep her child. Yet even if Kate agrees, he'll destroy Henry, her mother and the rest of the council. And if she refuses, Cronus will tear the world apart until every last god and mortal is dead.

With the fate of everyone she loves resting on her shoulders, Kate must do the impossible: find a way to defeat the most powerful being in existence, even if it costs her everything.

Even if it costs her eternity.

Review:

The Goddess Inheritance picks up right after The Goddess Legacy. Kate now heavily with child is being kept prisoner by Cronus and Calliope who have spared her life until she gives birth. With the date drawing near and war inevitably on the horizon Kate tries to devise a plan not only to save her child but humanity's existence as well. Does she succeed? No spoilers here this one you will just have to read and find out for yourself!

I went into The Goddess Inheritance expecting a satisfying conclusion to the series. However, I underestimated the author. Not only was the conclusion satisfying but it was beautifully written, action packed and heartbreaking all at the same time. Bravo Miss Carter, bravo.

Something I have always loved about this series is its ability to not only follow the main characters yet follow the secondary ones as well. While Kate, Calliope and Cronus are this books main focus, almost every other God or Goddess mentioned in the main trilogy makes an appearance in the finale. Not just glimpses either but dialogue as well. We also finally get to meet Rhea, Queen of the Titans and she proves to be even more stubborn than Kate!!

As for Kate, I actually didn't mind her in this book. Motherhood has brought a kind of maturity to her that is nice to see. Yes, she still is stubborn with a martyr complex but this time it turns out to be a good thing trust me! Henry however, I really would of loved seeing more from him. He does play a significant role in the overall plot so don't think he's nonexistent its just a lot of his stuff is behind the scenes and mentioned in passing to Kate. It was nice seeing Henry reciprocate Kate's feelings but it felt almost a bit to little to late. James on the other hand was dutifully standing by Kate. He is the most tragic character in all of this but I suppose someone had to play that role. I hope he finds love some day, he deserves it after all he's been through.

While I found the lack of Henry a bit irksome the one thing that truly bugged me happens towards the end. The strategy Kate devises is brilliant and to keep it vague without spoiling outright it really reminded me of what Buffy did with the Potentials in Season 7. That being said the ball is dropped at the end and her brilliance and especially those who helped aren't really mentioned. Now granted something really awful happens towards the end but still its my one real gripe with the whole book. If you're curious how I would of liked things to happen click on the show/hide button.

Overall The Goddess Inheritance was wrapped up nicely and the majority of my questions were answered. Am I satisfied? Yes, I am and that's a good feeling. The Author leaves things open enough to go back to the world but if this was truly the end it would be satisfying and I can live with that. I am highly recommending you pick this book up. I promise you won't be disappointed. Word of caution, make sure to keep tissues close at hand. The last 40 pages of The Goddess Inheritance not only tugged at my heartstrings but also pulled them from my chest and wrapped them in a pretty bow. In the end I will be rating The Goddess Inheritance by Aimee Carter ★★★★★.

  1. I've seen such mixed reviews, and most mention that Kate is much like she was in GI, not in TGT, which bothers me. I loved TGT, but I was really unhappy with the turn GI took. Most everyone I know loved GI better, but the triangle, for lack of a better word, irked me to no end. Also, I really liked James' character and I'm not sure how I feel about his role in all of this. :(

I'm glad you loved this one. I've got it on my pile, but it's not a priority right now.

    1. Kate is and will always be the one downside of this series. She just is so whiny and that martyr complex she has is just ugh. Still I loved this series as a whole and I would love another peek into the world down the road especially if it was another book like The Goddess Legacy which was by far my favorite in the series.
