Zurvival Saturday (52) Zombieland Pilot

For this weeks Zurvival Saturday I'll be talking about the Zombieland Pilot. Haven't heard of it yet? Well here's a bit of back story to get you up to date.  Zombieland was a 2009 Zombedy directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Zombieland follows a college student  named Columbus as he transverses a zombiefied landscape. The cast included Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, Emma Stone as Wichita, and Abigail Breslin as Little Rock.

The original film was distributed by Columbia Pictures. It was made for $20 million and grossed over $120 million worldwide. Caught up? Great!
In March 2013 Amazon announced they were producing a series based on the film. Both writers and the Producer of the original series returned. However, none of the cast did. Instead they chose to recast the roles with plays Tyler Ross playing Columbus, Kirk Ward  as Tallahassee, Maiara Walsh  as Wichita and Izabela Vidovic  as Little Rock.

New Cast: Little Rock, Tallahassee, Wichita, Columbus
My initial thoughts were excitement. I mean I loved Zombieland it was super fun and I totally loved all the little rules Columbus had for surviving. Plus Zombie kill of the week, best idea ever!! Unfortunately when I saw the cast I wasn't quite so sure. They really didn't try to match them in the looks department and I hadn't heard of any of the actors involved with the project. Still I was willing to give it a chance since hello  Zombies!!

On April 18th Amazon Studios announced the pilot was available to watch through Amazon Instant. So of course I rushed to download it.  I must say I was impressed. I loved the beginning it was totally what I'd expect from Zombieland. I still have to warm up to the actors and actually think a guy who dies midway through the episode would of made a much better Columbus but overall I'll definitely  be keeping my eye on this. I really hope it is picked up for more "episodes".

Not convinced? Well you're in luck, Zombieland has a trailer! You can watch it below:

Now for this weeks questions:

Have you seen the pilot yet?
Do you plan to watch it?
What do you think of the trailer?
