Review: Finding out you've been in a coma is hard enough but having no memory of who you are or how you got there is even worse. Liv Stein wakes up from a coma with no recollection of who she is. Even worse, her parents decide to move across the country with no warning. Now living in a new state with an identity she isn't sure belongs to her, Liv must put all the pieces of her broken memory back together and solve the puzzle that is her life. I admit this book is out of my usual comfort zone. I don't read all that many contemporary romance books but I knew instantly upon reading the description that this was one book I'd take a chance on. Let me tell you, I really enjoyed this book. I loved the writing style of the Author and the flashbacks,glimpses whatever you want to call them were the perfect addition to the puzzle. Now while I did really enjoy this book, I could of used with less of the romance/high school drama. Shave about 30-40 pages off the book and this easily would of been a 5 star read. Spencer, Liv's obvious intended is certainly a swoon worthy male lead but...... I didn't really feel he needed to have such a big role in the overall story. The love story sorta took away from the mystery and suspense I felt at the beginning of the book (which was fab and hooked me right in) and brought the pacing to a standstill at times in the middle section. Even towards the end when the "pieces" were coming together for Liv and it was made clear the two of them would end up together I just didn't really care. Speaking of the ending.....LOVED it!! I did guess the twist coming before it was revealed but listening to Liz's parents describe what happened was heartbreaking and definitely had me in a sniffle fit. The desire to be parents no matter the cost is understandable, especially with them coming so close and then losing it just like that. By the time the epilogue came around I was in full blown hysterics, no mere sniffles here these were big sobbing wet tears. Overall this was a great read and I know the Author will be one I look out for in the future. I am highly suggesting you pick this book up and give it a go. I will be rating All The Broken Pieces ★★★★.
