Twins Sera and Luke Raine have a well-kept secret----she heals with a touch of her hand, he sees the future. All their lives they've helped those in need on the sly. They've always thought of their abilities as being a gift.

Then Luke has a vision that Sera is killed. That gift they've always cherished begins to feel an awful lot like a curse. Because the thing about Luke's ability? He's always right.

And he can't do anything about it.

I was provided a copy of this book by the Author J. Meyers in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated in any way for them.

Review:

This Book was an enjoyable if at times a frustrating read. The Book started out slow and I feel that certainly is part of the reason why I wasn't in love with it. The writing was good and the world richly developed. I can tell the Author spent some time crafting Luke and Sera's world and the creatures that reside in it. Luke was certainly my favorite of the two main characters. I felt a connection with him something that was definitely lacking with Sera. I also loved Fey their best friend. I wanted to learn more about her and how she was chosen to guard Luke and Sera's lives. Jonas was also likeable even if he wasn't entirely supposed to be written that way. I felt that their was certainly a larger story waiting to be told concerning him.

Now for the things I disliked. As mentioned above I never felt a connection to Sera. I found Sera to be at times frustrating. Here you have this girl who can heal anything with the touch of her hands, she can even influence people's emotions but....is in complete disbelief that supernatural creatures exist. I also severely disliked that she continued healing people even after being warned to stop. You'd think after being told you changed a vampire back to human and that other vampires aren't pleased you would be more cautious, but nope here she goes just healing everything and everyone. I think this is how the Author wrote her but I didn't like it.

Then you have the character Marc. If he was written completely out of the book or significantly cut back, I felt the story would of flowed better. I felt such a disconnect with the rest of the story during his scenes. I couldn't understand that Sera would be so quick to believe he was this good guy, even after Luke has a vision confirming he will break her heart. Is she blinded by love or just a fool? Honestly I couldn't tell.

Overall while this book was good it definitely had flaws. Will I continue reading this series? Most likely yes. It was at least good enough by the end for me to want to read on. Therefore I am rating this book ★★★ Stars. Worth a read, worth your time, but not without some flaws.

  2. I see your point. I found a lot of the book to be unnecessary to the storyline and yes she could have cut out a lot of Marc's parts but I liked being able to see his struggle, made him less a villain and more a victim. I loved the ending where she doesn't get a HEA. I'm sick of reading books where everything magically works out in the end and all is forgiven. I think that was my favorite part of the book.... does that make me a mean person? LoL

  3. I don't need HEA's but I do like some sort of resolution which certainly helped save this book for me.
