Zurvival Saturday (124) Bite Sized Reviews: Contaminated by Suzanne Robb & Zyborg: Turbo Fiction by Conan De Moe

Image
Hey ya'll, I'm back this week with some bite sized reviews! This past week I read a book called Contaminated by Suzanne Robb.  I've had this novel kicking around on my Kindle for quite some time so figured why not read it. The other story I read was called  Zyborg: Turbo Fiction by Conan De Moe.  The latter is actually a short story that's part of a collection but I'm really hoping the Author writes more in the world in the future. That story has loads of potential. Anyway, on to the reviews! First up, I read Contaminated: A Zombie Survival Novel Publication Date: July 31, 2012 My Thoughts:  Good in places, lacking in others. I really enjoyed the Resident Evil feel of this story.   Close quarters and zombies provide a suspenseful atmosphere and the author plays off that well. However, I think the story was a bit predictable in places such as the traitors were obvious and lacked any surprise and the writing unraveled a bit the closer the story came to its con

From everything Jamie has heard about Charlotte, it seems safer to admire her from afar. From the moment they meet, there’s a tense energy between them, and they seem more destined to be rivals than anything else. But when a She

Movie Review: Deadpool (2016)

Image
IMDb Director: Tim Miller Genre: Action, Violence Distributor: Marvel Entertainment Run Time: 108 Minutes Rated: R Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who now works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when evil scientist Ajax (Ed Skrein) tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor. With help from mutant allies Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life. Movie Review OK, so here's the deal, I am not a Ryan Reynolds fan. Sure I liked him in Waiting and I have fond memories of his character from Fifteen on Nickelodeon (oh yeah, that dates myself) but on the whole his snarky, hot schtick just doesn't get my panties in a wad like it does for others. However, even I can admit when I am wrong because Ryan Reynolds

Manga Monday (7) Longest Running Anime Series

Image
When many people think of long running anime series, One Piece is the anime that comes to everyone's mind. However, the title of Longest Running Anime series actually goes to Sazae-San a Yonkoma Manga (similar to Comic strips) series originally written and illustrated by Machiko Hasegawa. Sazae-San is a story about family. The main character is a mother named Sazae-san. She lives in a house with her husband, her kids and her parents. It is a very traditional manga, a feel good tale similar to that of say The Partridge Family or The Brady Bunch. The stories are always lighthearted and the characters will always find a lesson in whatever challenge they come up against. In 2013 Sazae-San was awarded the Guinness World Record  as the longest-running animated television series in the world. At that time the series had been on the air over 45 years and had over  2,250 full episodes not including over 7,000 short story clips.  Since the beginning of the series the opening and closing

Let's Reminisce Together (2) That time I wanted to be named Stacy

work in progress image Good day fellow followers! It's Thursday, which means it is time for another edition of Let's Reminisce Together. This week I wanted to throw back to one of my favorite book series growing up The Baby-Sitters Club. If you were a child of the 80's or early 90's like I was, The Baby-Sitters club is something you have probably read or at the very least watched on TV. For those of you whom haven't heard of this series here's some brief info on it: The Baby-Sitters Club was released in 1986. The series was written by Author Ann M. Martin and published by Scholastic. It's been said that the books were heavily inspired by a popular babysitting series from the 60's Ginny’s Baby-Sitting Business.  The first book in The Baby-Sitters Club was titled Kristy's Great Idea and sets up the entire premise for the series, which is of course about a group of friends who form a Babysitting cooperative in their neighborhood. But wait, th
