Waiting On Wednesday (141) Bright Smoke, Cold Fire by Rosamund Hodge

Image
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly blog post hosted by Breaking The Spine where readers share which books they are highly anticipating. This week I want to share Bright Smoke, Cold Fire by Rosamund Hodge. Why I'm Waiting :  Romeo and Juliet  retellings aren't new but what really compels me to read this one is that it is set in an undead world. You know me, Oh how I love my Zombie books. Also it doesn't hurt that I really enjoy this Author so I'm sure her spin on this story will be done well.  Expected Publication: September 27, 2016 by Balzer + Bray When the mysterious fog of the Ruining crept over the world, the living died and the dead rose. Only the walled city of Viyara was left untouched. The heirs of the city’s most powerful—and warring—families, Mahyanai Romeo and Juliet Catresou share a love deeper than duty, honor, even life itself. But the magic laid on Juliet at birth compels her to punish the enemies of her clan—and Romeo has just killed her

Book Trailer Tuesday is a Weekly Blog Post hosted by me at Blood Sweat and Books. Each week I choose two Book Trailers to showcase. One Trailer will be for an upcoming book and the other will be one that has already been released. This week I focus my spotlight on How to Hang A Witch by Adriana Mather & Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake Available Now: How to Hang A Witch by Adriana Mather Salem, Massachusetts is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves The Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were? If dealing with that weren't enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real live (well technically dead) ghost. A handsome, angry ghost who wants Sam to stop

Zurvival Saturday (127) Bite Sized Reviews: The Renegades by Jack Hunt & DEAD Special Edition Perspectives vol. 1 by T.W. Brown

Image
Hey ya'll, I'm back this week with some more bite sized reviews! I haven't been reading as much in this genre as I usually do. I can't tell you if it is lack of original content or just feeling unispired by all the books cropping up in my recommendations list. Either way, these two passed the curiousity test and worked their way onto my pile. First up, I read  The Renegades Publication Date: December 7, 2015 My Thoughts:  The Renegades wasn't a bad book but I think it tried a bit too hard to be a John Hughes movie set inside a Zombie apocalypse. Whereas I was hoping more for something like Freaks & Geeks (more comedy less drama) meets Zombie Apocalypse. One of the biggest issues I had with the story invovled the Colonel character. I really felt that whole sub plot was unnecessary and that it was included more as an afterthought. The story could have held its own just following the character's as they figured out whether to stay or go but I guess e

Waiting On Wednesday (140) Poison's Kiss by Breeana Shields

Image
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly blog post hosted by Breaking The Spine where readers share which books they are highly anticipating. This week I want to share Poison's Kiss by Breeana Shields. Why I'm Waiting : Poison's Kiss greatly reminds me of Her Fair Assassin Trilogy and you all know how much I loved, loved, loved that series. Even if this book can capture a tiny sliver of that books enjoyment for me I'll consider this a success. Plus, who doesn't love assassins, espionage and doomed romance? Oh and big shot out to the cover design. It's gorgeous.  Expected Publication: January 10, 2017 by Random House A teenage assassin kills with a single kiss until she is ordered to kill the one boy she loves. This commercial YA fantasy is romantic and addictive like a poison kiss and will thrill fans of Sarah J. Maas and Victoria Aveyard. Marinda has kissed dozens of boys. They all die afterward. It s a miserable life, but being a visha kanya a poison m
