Zurvival Saturday (26)

For this weeks Zurvival Saturday I wanted to share some of my favorite Fairy Tales/Children's Stories with a Zombie spin.

1.) Alice In Deadland by Mainak Dhar
Review Here
In this book Alice is already a trained fighter living in the Deadlands. One day she spots a biter(aka zombie)escaping down a rabbit hole and that's where the fun begins. The clever blending of Alice In Wonderland into this undead landscape really sets this book apart.

2.) Hansel and Gretel Are Dead by Kevin Richey

This story follows Hansel and Gretel by The Brothers Grimm fairly closely but deviates by having the infection of a zombie virus happen at the beginning of the book. I really love how the infection was weaved into the story and I kid you not I shouted OMG out loud several times when I read the ending.

3.)Cinderella and Zombies by Emily Casey

This Novella varies quite a bit from the original story but still has a super fun zombie twist. The prince in this story has to Audition to win the hand of Cinderella something he's none to happy about. I really dug that Cinderella was a strong kick ass female (hello she throws knives!! and think the Author should consider writing more of these. I know I'd read them.

Questions

Have you ever read any of these? If so,Which one?

What Classic Fairy Tale or Children's Story Would you like to see made into a Zombie book?

Leave me an answer in the comments below. I love to read your responses.

Comments

  1. I read Alice in Deadland, but I have to say that I was not very impressed with it. I wanted to care more for Alice, but it felt like an action script to me more than a novel. Not saying that I didn't enjoy it to a certain level, but I wanted more substance.

I have Cinderella & Zombies on my list to read for October!!! I am looking forward to that.

I haven't even heard of the Hansel and Gretel one, so will definitely have to check that one out!!

    1. The Zombie Fairy Tales are great the Author is releasing one each month during 2012. I don't have them all but the four I've read were great.
