Booking Through Thursday (18)

BTT Asks: If your house was burning down and you could save just one book from your collection, What would it be?

Oh wow this is a toughie. My first instinct would be to grab my Lord Of The Rings books because they are bound in a box together and easy to carry but....then I'd be torn having to leave the much bulkier Harry Potter books behind.

I think in the end I would go for The Harry Potter books because they are first editions and also I have more sentimental attachment to them since the last 4 in the series I went to midnight releases to get and each book has a little something from that night tucked inside.

Now for my questions, If your choice was between saving the Harry Potter Series or Lord Of the Rings, Which would you choose? Why? Leave me an answer in the comments below, I love reading your responses!

  1. Very difficult choices.....but first editions sound like a "must save."

  2. I wouldn't even think saving books if I were in a fire - I don't have any that I couldn't buy again, or get signed in the future. Now - if I had first editions or something handed down through generations of family - then I'd try to save those

    1. I know obviously in a fire my family would come first but if it was just me in the house and I had anything crucial saved I probably would try to save my books.

  3. I'd have to say Harry Potter. I've never been a huge LotR fan.

    1. LOTR is one of the greatest series ever made but my set of books is nothing I couldn't buy again so that's why HP won out.

  6. I think any book that one has special feelings for would be a good choice. You'll find my answer here As for your question I would find that a hard choice indeed. But disregarding the physical aspect of having to carry them... I think I'd go with Harry Potter too.

    1. Why it pays to have the bookcase near a window can just toss them out if need be lol. Least that's what I've always told myself I'd do.

    1. Many years ago I lost my collection of books to a flood. I was devastated to see the collection I had taken my whole life to build was reduced to only a few books.
