Waiting On Wednesday (73) Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly blog post hosted by Breaking The Spine.
For this weeks Waiting On Wednesday I chose Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman.

Expected Publication:
April 2014 by Balzer + Bray/Harper Collins
Obey. Smile when Hitler comes closer. And never, never question him.

These are the three rules in seventeen-year-old Nazi Gretchen Müller's life. They've kept her safe since Papa died, protecting old family friend Adolf Hitler during a street fight years ago. Until the night in 1931 when Gretchen meets a young, fearless Jewish reporter she's supposed to despise. But she can't stop herself from listening to his story -- that her father, the adored martyr, was actually murdered. Together, Gretchen and the reporter vow to do whatever it takes to uncover the truth. Even if it means breaking all of Hitler's rules. Especially the most important one of all: don't fall in love with the enemy..

Why Am I Waiting?
I've read quite a few books that take place during this time period through the years but I cannot recall any where the main character was friendly with Hitler. I think this book will be completely fascinating and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

  1. I have seen this one as someone's pick last week. I like you have read books set in this period but having a character close to such persona like Hitler can be both interesting and trick. We'll see. Great pick :)

  6. I think I have heard of this one, but only recently, and I didn't give it more than a passing glance at the time. But that SUMMARY, oh my gosh. This book is going to be totally gutsy and unique. I think I'm going to give it a shot. Thank you for sharing!

  7. I have genuinely never seen this one but it actually sounds... amazing. World War 2 was a terrible event but it'll be good to read some fiction based during that time.

    A really great pick!

  8. This is new to me. A really sad time period but like you said would be interesting to read something where someone is friends with Hitler. There is forbidden love too which I love. Sounds good! Thanks for stopping by!

  10. This one could be really good, I think. I'm so curious to see how her family's relationship with Hitler will come into play. I don't read a ton of historical fiction because it needs to be particularly engaging to catch my attention, but I think this one would fit the bill.

  16. I don't know...I love reading actual accounts and history from this time period, but I haven't had a ton of luck with fictional stories during this time. Maybe it's just too depressing? I do love that cover, though. Hope you love it and that you convince me I need to read it, regardless of my reservations. :)
