Evalyn Ibarra never expected to be an accused killer and experimental prison test subject. A year ago, she was a normal college student. Now she’s been sentenced to a month in the compass room—an advanced prison obstacle course designed by the government to execute justice.

If she survives, the world will know she’s innocent.

Locked up with nine notorious and potentially psychotic criminals, Evalyn must fight the prison and dismantle her past to stay alive. But the system prized for accuracy appears to be killing at random.

She doesn’t plan on making friends.

She doesn’t plan on falling in love, either.

Review
The Wicked We Have Done is a New Adult Science Fiction Thriller with Dystopian elements. The story follows a girl named Evalyn whose been sentenced to the newly implemented compass rooms as a way to determine if she should be freed or not.

I have to admit that the idea of compass rooms determining whether the offenders crime was one time fluke or just a series of things to come (ie a path of violence) was intriguing and dare I say a really economical system for dispensing out justice as well. If it wasn't for the few sentenced for what really should've been seen as justifiable homicide (therefore never being sentenced to the compass room) and the fact it's probably cruel (not to mention all the human rights violations) to make even offenders go through a Culling meets Lost style arena then I could totally see the benefits to society for implementing programs like these, at least from a red blooded American tax paying standpoint I can.

One thing that rather amazed me about The Wicked We Have Done was the way the story managed to feel fresh and unique despite having elements similar to other popular Dystopian Novels. It would've been incredibly easy for the story to have been written as a parody of some of those books but the fact the Author didn't says so much not only about the writer but also the confidence in the characters to support the storyline all on their own.

Speaking of the characters, I really loved how different everyone was. Nick I wanted to punch (hard) while Meghan was blinded by lust and love. Then you have Evalyn who suffers from extreme guilt while still trying to remain positive despite her surroundings. You also have Gordon whose not right in the head and dear sweet Casey who suffered so much yet still managed to become a decent human being himself. Alone any one of them might be interesting but as a group they were brilliant and really played off each others hopes and fears nicely. It's really refreshing when an Author puts so much forethought into the lives of the entire cast instead of focusing almost all the attention and backstory on the main couple.

Final Thoughts
I'm going to cut right to the chase regarding this one,The Wicked We Have Done was perfection and I loved everything about it. Not only was the writing flawless but the characters were great, the plot amazing (like seriously woah guys) and the romance not only believable and sweet but as drama free as they come. You mark my words, this book is gonna be huge this year. I definitely recommend picking this one up and I truly hope you enjoy it every bit as much as I did. With that being said, I'll be rating The Wicked We Have Done by Sarah Harian ★★★★★.
