Zurvival Saturday (37) Top Ten Favorite Zombie Books of 2012

For this weeks Zurvival Saturday I wanted to share my Top Ten Favorite Zombie Books of 2012. This year saw so many decent entries into the Zombie market. I I took great care in choosing my entries and I think you might find my choices surprising.

In order from 10-1 here are my Top Ten Favorite Zombie Books of 2012!

10.)Dead Cold by Roddy Cross Released: April 4,2012
While I still hate the cover of this book, it was one of my favorite Zombie books of the year. I liked the character Roland and the ending was fab. If you want to check out my review click Here.

*edit- since posting this Dead Cold has had a cover update. You can check out the shiny new cover Here.

9.)The Scourge by A.G. Henley Released: January 31, 2012
I always planned to review this one but never managed to get around to it. This book was so unique and I can't wait to read more in this series. Seriously check it out if you haven't already.

8.)Dearly, Beloved by Lia Habel Released: September 25,2012
It's funny I wasn't really a fan of Dearly,Departed but I rather enjoyed Dearly,Beloved. Funny how books can be like that. If you want to check out my review click Here.

7.)Don Of The Living Dead by Robert DeCoteau Released: September 1,2011
Yes,yes I know this book came out in 2011 but I read it in 2012 so it totally counts. I loved this book it was everything a proper Zomb-com should be and one I definitely recommend you read.

6.)Last Bastion Of The Living by Rhiannon Frater Released: June 12,2012
After devouring the As The World Dies trilogy earlier in the year when I had the opportunity to read Last Bastion Of The Living I jumped at the chance. This book was fabulous and it still makes me sad to this day that it's a standalone. If you want to check out my review click Here.

5.)Bones: The Complete Apocalypse Sage by Mark Wheaton Released: August 16,2011
A Zombie book told from the perspective of a German shepherd ah, yes please! I got this book Free one day on Amazon but only read it several months ago. I was pleasantly surprised how entertained I was seeing a zombie book told from a non-human pov, it was really unique and a book that has stuck with me even all these months later.

4.)The Weepers:The Other Life by Susanne Winnacker Released: February 15,2012 (May in the US)
I originally reviewed this book through Netgalley but enjoyed it so much that I bought a copy from an Auction the Author participated in just so I could have the cover seen above. If you want to see my review click Here.

3.)Balance by Peter Giglio Released: January 9,2012
This book really stuck with me long after I put it down. I still think about the Zombies and seeing the small conscious part that remained even after "death" was fascinating. I really hope to see this Author revisit the world in the future. Also I edited to include that I loved the cover change, the new one is simply awesome! If you want to see my review click Here.

2.)What Zombies Fear by Kirk Allmond Released: September 8,2011
I loved this book!! It blended the realistic survival elements with the paranormal just wonderfully. I admit I haven't read the rest in the series but if they are anything like this one then I know I will enjoy. If you want to read my review click Here.

Curious about my Number 1 pick aren't you?? With no further ado here is my choice for Favorite Zombie Book of 2012!

1.) As The World Dies:Siege by Rhiannon Frater Released: April 24,2012
It's so rare that a series comes around where everything just flows perfectly. Siege which is the final book in the As The World Dies trilogy is one of those. This book was heartbreaking and yet satisfying all the same. If you haven't checked out this series yet, I highly suggest you do, reread it even, I know I will. If you want to check out my review click Here.

That wraps up my list of Top Ten Favorite Zombies of 2012. Not many big name books on the list but with so many fantastic Indie entries it was a really tough decision this year. I want to shout out some Honorable Mentions that almost made my list: Domain Of The Dead by Iain McKinnon, Schoolgirl Apocalypse by John Cairns, Something Strange&Deadly by Susan Dennard,The Enemy by Charlie Higson, and lastly Mutated by Joe McKinney. I can't wait to see what 2013 brings in this genre. What about you?
