Mash-Up Monday (4)
It's time for another Mash-Up Monday. So what is Mash-Up Monday you ask?? Well Mash-Up Monday is when you take two books that really have nothing in common and Mash them up to create an entirely different book. Sounds simple enough right? This week I'll be Mashing up Slaughterhouse-Five and A Clockwork Orange.
While both Slaughterhouse-Five and A Clockwork Orange are classics in their own right they both have flaws limited by either the decade they were written or the characters themselves but....mash them together, taking the best bits out of both books, and you have the amazingly awesome Novel that is Fight Club. Fight Club if you haven't read it is about a man who has become disenfranchised with the world and to let loose his rage at societal flaws joins a secret under ground boxing club with no rules or limits. The book takes a hard look at consumer culture while also delving into the psyche of someone at their breaking point. If you haven't read Fight Club, I highly suggest picking it up.
Now for this week's questions??
Have you read any of the books mentioned above? Which books would you mash together to create Fight Club? Why? Leave your answers in the comments below, I love reading your responses.
